Mr. Andre Williams and Mrs. Cheryl Shaw Williams
Cheryl and her husband, Andre, are deeply dedicated to Inglewood and committed to giving back to the community they love.
As a lifelong resident of Inglewood and a proud product of the Inglewood Unified School District, I understand firsthand the importance of a strong public education. I attended Woodworth Elementary School, Monroe Junior High School, and proudly graduated from Morningside High School. The education I received in IUSD, combined with the values instilled by my parents, Dr. Ernest Shaw and Lorene Shaw, laid the foundation for my lifelong commitment to education, family, and community service.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a minor in Behavioral Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
I am deeply invested in our public schools because I am equally invested in our families and our community. Strong schools build strong families, and strong families create thriving communities. Every child deserves access to a quality education in a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where they can reach their fullest potential.
For more than 15 years, I have been actively involved in supporting the students of Inglewood. As a Founding Board Member of the Morningside Monarchs Alumni Association, established in 2010, I have worked to provide scholarships, educational opportunities, student recognition, and programs that encourage student success.
My commitment to our youth extends throughout the community. I proudly serve as Speech Chairperson for the Inglewood Black History Celebration, where I help inspire and recognize the talents of our students through educational and public speaking programs.
I also serve as the District 4 Inglewood Planning Commissioner and as a Scholarship Board Member for the Inglewood Century Heights Neighborhood Watch Association, where I help award scholarships to deserving Inglewood Unified School District students.
My lifelong investment in Inglewood, my experience serving our community, and my unwavering commitment to our students have earned the endorsement of respected educators and community leaders.
As your School Board Member, I will work to ensure our schools remain fiscally responsible, academically excellent, and focused on preparing every student for success. Together, we can strengthen our public schools, support our families, and build an even brighter future for the children of Inglewood.
